Former Samburu senator Sammy Prisa Leshore has been gazetted to replace axed nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura to represent persons living with disabilities in the Senate.
This follows a gazette notice dated May 11, 2021 by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) deleting Isaac Mwaura’s name from the list of nominated senators.
“The deleted Nominee stands disqualified as the member of to the Senate representing persons with disabilities.” the statement read in part.
Prisa will now be the Jubilee Nominated Senator to represent people living with disabilities in the Senate.
On Tuesday, May 11, Mwaura obtained a court order barring implementation of his removal until his petition is determined.
The court set May 24 as inter-partes hearing date.
Taking to social media after the ruling of the court ,Mwaura Thanked the court for remaining independent even after he was robbed his nominated role in senate.
Mwaura’s problems with the Jubilee Party Tribunal started on December 2020 when he declared his support for Deputy President Dr William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid and declared his support for the hustler movement led by the DP.
He and colleagues Mary Seneta, Falhada Iman, Naomi Waqo, Victor Prengei and Millicent Omanga had appeared before the party’s disciplinary committee on two occasions where they faced charges of insubordination and misconduct.
They were expelled by the National Management Committee after members deliberated on reports submitted by the Party Disciplinary Committee over alleged gross violations of party rules.
