Nairobi’s Jogoo Road To Experience Traffic Disruption

Motorists Plying through Jogoo Road in Nairobi have been cautioned to expect unusual traffic disruption over a section of the road by the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA)

The roads agency issued a notice on Thursday, March 4, disclosing the areas along Jogoo Road/ Likoni Road Roundabout (opposite St Stephen’s Church) will be affected.

KURA noted that civil works in a section of the road where a contractor is installing culverts is the main cause of the traffic disruption.

The agency added that the disruption will take place from Friday, March 5 to Sunday, March 7, 2021.

All vehicles and motocycle have been advised to drive safely as they near to that section.

“We apologise for any inconvenience that may be caused as we endeavour to provide an efficient urban road network,” KURA noted.

The works along the roads are among many ongoing in Nairobi. In February 2021, KURA issued a notice over the temporary closure of a section of peponi road.

According to The road agency the ongoing works will take three months to be complete.

Meanwhile, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued an advisory that owes to demolish the Kangemi bridge before reconstructing it to pave way for a new road design.

During the construction period, traffic headed to Nairobi shall be diverted to the existing LHS of the main carriageway which will facilitate the demolition and subsequent reconstruction of the Kangemi Bridge.

The ongoing expansion of the busy highway is running concurrently with the erection of the Nairobi Expressway which has caused major traffic disruption for motorists using the route.
