Following the squashing of the Building Bridges Initiative amendment Bill by Baringo MCAs. Disgruntled members of Kenya African National Union (KANU) have gone to court to seek to overturn the shooting down of the bill.
Speaking after filing a petition at Kabarnet High Court today, through their lawyer Gordon Ogola, The MCAs have argued that the assembly failed to follow the law saying public participation among the electorate was not done hence chaos erupted during the debate of the bill last week.
KANU Nominated MCA Betty Birchogo said the views of the people were not included in the bill blaming the assembly’s Justice and Legal affairs committee for rushing the bill to the assembly for discussion.
30 MCA’s rejected the bill while 11 MCA’s supported making Baringo County Assembly the first to shoot down the ammendment bill.
