A near fist-fight between Wiper party leader, Dr. Stephen Kalonzo and interim UDA chairperson, Hon. Muthama occurred in a burial ceremony to bid a farewell to Bishop Bernard Nguyu, the Machakos regional presiding Bishop of AIC in Mitambo on Wednesday.
Kalonzo, who had arrived at the event late accompanied by Machakos county senator aspirant, Agnes Kavindu who is Muthama’s Ex wife made remark that irritate the former senator quoting that he will hand over back Kavindu to Muthama as a senator. “I am telling you by next year, you will see Muthama running to rest on my chest, because he knows where we are and where we are going. Even if he gets inflamed, I will hand over his wife back to him as a senator.” He said.
Muthama who had earlier made remarks criticizing the government for giving Mca’s car grants terming it as corruption and had found hard time when mourners started to shout him down shot from his sit, fully charged to confront the Wiper party leader but was restrained by Mp’s Patrick Makau (Mavoko), Victor Munyaka (Machakos town) and Robert Mbui (Kathiani) forcing Kalonzo to cut his speech short.
Governor Mutua who coordinated the VIP protocol had earlier warned politicians to restrain from making politically provocative remarks as it was an event to bid farewell to a respected clergy. Dr. Mutua however added that though, there were three presidential candidates in Ukambani, including Prof. Kivutha Kibwana, himself and Dr. Stephen Kalonzo, he was ready to support the more popular than him across Kenya and he is expecting the same from them.
Several leaders present in the event hailed Bishop Nguyu as visionary and exemplary religious leader who believed in both the work ethic and honest living.
