Kiambu county KANU branch has rebranded into a new outfit namely Kanu Fresh that has all-inclusive of membership and more so focused on women leadership that they say has been left behind for a long period.
According to the party women congress leader Gladys Chania, the party has rebranded in order to accommodate the youth who are the majority in the country.
Chania spoke after addressing party delegates drawn from all the 60 wards in the county during which new office holders were elected.
Chania, however, says that as KANU FRESH party they will fill candidates at the by-election in Kahawa Wendani Ward.
Former civic leader James Mburuti was elected branch chairman with George Githunguri elected as his deputy. Millicent Chege was elected as the branch secretary while Paul Mburu was elected as the branch organizing secretary to be deputized by Esau Kioni.
Chania says that the officials will immediately start recruiting new members of the former powerful ruling party.
“We want to go down into history books as the ones who revamped the party,’ she said adding that Kanu will be a force to reckon with during the 2022 general election
The newly elected branch chairman james Mburuti said that there is no factions in Kanu adding that the party is all-inclusive alluding that they are the Legitimate leaders leading Kiambu County.
