Aston Villa bagged three important points at Villa Park on Wednesday night, 21st July when they beat Arsenal 1-0.
Trezeguet scored the only goal for the Lions in the first half, as they boosted their chances of survival in the English Premier League.
The win saw Dean Smith’s men get out of the relegation zone on a night when Watford were thrashed 4-0 at home by Manchester City.
Wednesday’s win was Aston Villa’s first Premier League win over Arsenal at home since they defeated the Gunners 3-2 in December 1998.
Meanwhile, Arsenal lost their 10th Premier League game of the season, making it the third consecutive season they will do so for the first time since 1987/88.
This is also the first time the Gunners will finish outside of top six since 1995 as they remain stuck to 10th with 53 points. It means they will not qualify for next season’s Europa League unless they defeat Chelsea in the FA Cup final on 1st August.
Villa who are now in 17th place in the Premier League standings will face West Ham in their last match of the season at the London Stadium on Sunday, 26th July.
